Yes – Delaney was on the scoreboard for throwing the baseball 2nd fastest among girls 1-6 :)

Ahhh….she did it!  She picked out her earrings (her birthstone), took a deep breath and let them pierce her ears.  She jumped a little, hugged me and cried for about a minute – since then, we are ALL SMILES about it!

And then it was Saturday – Par-Tay Day!

There were cookies and cake, swimming, friends and flip-flops.  It doesn’t get much better than that, now does it?

Happy, Happy Birthday Sweetest of Girls!

The ULTIMATE Party

So, when I think girl-party, I think Paaarrr-taaaaay. I might even think lip-synching.

I picture dancing around like a maniac to ‘Let’s Hear it for the Boy’ by Denice Williams (yes, that was a Footloose drop) or maybe a little Cyndi Lauper and ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’.  As long as we are going old school – cue up the Beastie Boys and ‘You Gotta Fight For Your Right to Paaaarrrr-taaaay’.  Are you singing along yet?

 Ultimate Blog Party 2009

I’m so excited you stopped by!  I hope you will stay for a minute and maybe even *gasp* comment?  You know I love to hear from you.

Parties have always been a great opportnity to mingle or observe depending on what kind of girl you are – maybe you like to be the center of attention – maybe you prefer to kick back on the edge of the action taking it all in.

Either way, the Ultimate Blog Party is the perfect way to throw your hat into the proverbial blogging ring.  Last year was my first Par-tay.  I didn’t know what to expect, but I can tell you – I certainly didn’t know there would be hundreds and hundreds of women bloggers joining the festivities.

This is just like having all of your favorite people in one room – AND knowing - they brought all of their favorite people with them – and THEY, in turn brought their favorite friends.  You will spend the next week surrounded by like minded women. You can stop by to visit as many or as few as you like.  Learn a little, love a little.

ExtraordinaryMommy has grown a lot since last year’s Party.  But, for the most part, I have stayed the same. I’m still a mommy.  Still think my kiddos are fantastic.  Still love my life.

minicoopmesmallI started this site because I think being a Mommy is an Extraordinary thing – whether you have 10 kids or one, whether you work, stay home or work at home, whether your kids go to school or you homeschool.  We have a common bond.  We made an ordinary, extraordinary decision – to mother a child.  It is challenging and rewarding, scary and silly, amazing and terrifying. It is, by far, the most incredible thing I have ever done.

Deep in my heart I know moms don’t give themselves enough credit.  We often feel guilty and inadequate.  But, daily, we are doing something Extraordinary – we are forming actual people – we are helping them to understand right from wrong. We are teaching them to read, to tie their shoes, to ride a bike, to stand up for themselves, to stand up for others, to protect their hearts and to dream.

As you take full advantage of the Ultimate Blog Party, and you bunny hop from one amazing blog to another – take note of the ones who speak to you. Comment if you like what they have to say (we can never get enough comment love – is anyone out there?) And come back to visit.  Often.

Thanks to Susan and Janice at 5MinutesforMom for hosting this fabulous bash. The party runs from March 20-27th. Join in.

The Princess and the Party

Whew…am I glad that is over.  Don’t get me wrong…I love to plan a party…and girly parties are my fav, but wow!  Holy Estrogen Batman!  Ten girls between the ages of 3-5 are d-r-a-m-a with a capital ‘D’…but, oh, so much fun.  I never realized that having little boys around helps to keep things stable :)   Since Delaney wanted to do a princess party, we figured the boys would want to opt out….and the girls were super-cute and super sweet!  Delaney is lucky to have such wonderful little girls in her life!

Do you think I like tulle and flowers?

I had so much fun planning the party for Delaney….  This was our first time doing a single-gender party.  I think the girls had a great time.  They were welcome to come in princess attire if they wanted, but it wasn’t a requirement for having fun!

Look at how sweet they are!

They couldn’t get enough of our special guest….Cinderella (even though Delaney was intially afraid of her!…She couldn’f figure out how she ‘appeared in our house’)  It was so sweet…she did make up, played games, read a story and did an official coronation :)

And there absolutely isn’t anything better in the whole world than seeing a smile on your baby’s face (or hearing, ‘that was the best, Mommy’.

The Ultimate Blog Party – I’m joining in!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

I am loving this!  I am fairly new to blogging, but am literally patting myself on the back for figuring out how to join this party (I’ve been trying to navigate my way through the world of blogging/code and urls for days now!!)

I love 5minutesformom.com and am thrilled to be joining this mom party.

A little bit about me:  I’m a mommy to two extraordinary little ones:  Delaney is 3 1/2 and Cooper is 1 1/2.  They make my world go around.  I’ve been blissfully married for 5 1/2 years now to Jeff.

I have just recently started www.ExtraordinaryMommy.com as a place to inspire moms and give them all sorts of fun information, from tips to feel your most extraordinary to ways to connect with your children.  I truly believe that it is important for moms to ALWAYS remember that being a mom is extraordinary…, whether you work or stay at home, whether you have 1 child or 10.  It is hard work, it is rewarding, it is challenging and it is the best thing I have ever done!  I’d love for you to stop by, take a look around, and even join our newletter list!  I look forward to hearing from you!

I’ve got my party hat on and I’ll be back soon!
