How to go from Curly to Straight Hair with the Remington Wet to Straight Flat Iron

When I was at BlogHer in New York City, I went to the Getting Gorgeous Event hosted by the lovely Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney .  Naturally, I had a wonderful time.  There were friends to hug, products to try and gorgeous for the getting :)

When we left, they handed us these bags FULL of amazing items.  One of them, the Remington Wet to Straight Flat Iron both fascinated me and left me feeling, I’ll admit it, skeptical.  I have big hair.  Thick, curly, hard-to-manage-I-only-wash-it-every-5-or-6-days-kind-of-hair.  Because it is just such a huge pain to do.  (Audrey says I need a Brazilian blow-out…and I mean I want one, but again – with all the hair?  It is like a bazillion dollars to get it done. I digress.)  So, I wondered if it was even possible if this (amazingly priced) flat iron could POSSIBLY tackle my hair. (Hint: yes)

Here’s the video. (And I apologize in advance for the lack of makeup-ness.  Try not to be frightened.)

And here’s where you can buy it online if you so choose.  (P.S. – this isn’t an affiliate link….and no one asked me to write about this :)

Greyson Chance – Exclusive New Song – “PAST” – BlogHer 2010

For the first time, Greyson Chance performs this new song, “Past”….he co-wrote it with his sister and talks a little about it in the video.  Enjoy!

Even though we’ve heard Greyson perform ‘Broken Hearts’ (he did it on The Ellen Show)….it is amazing to hear in person!

Greyson Chance Thrills the Ladies at BlogHer

Sure….he’s a YouTube sensation AND has been on The Ellen Show, but singing for us at BlogHer?Greyson Chance won us over when he first grabbed the microphone.

Broadway Tickets Giveaway! (and extra savings)

There has always been something about the Theater that makes my heart beat a little faster.  It could be the songs.  It could be the dancing.  It could be that I am in awe because I can’t do either.

Basic CMYKEvery time I go, I can’t get the music out of my head.  I’ve been lucky enough to see some of the very best:  Cats (four times – once ‘in the round’ in London), Les Mis, Phantom, MammaMia, Wicked – but there is only ONE that I have ever seen on Broadway in New York City: Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Aspects of Love.

There is something about seeing a show on Broadway that turns the experience into something magical.

*sigh*

If only I lived in the City.

The smile I need

You know how sometimes you are too tired to think?  But you still have so much to do…and you can’t seem to focus?  That’s me.  Right now.  So, I decided to try to snap myself out of it.

I put my new favorite picture on the edge of my computer screen – so it is constantly in my peripheral vision – and that makes me smile.

How can I NOT smile when I see this?

newyorkphotobooth

We took it a few weeks ago when we were in NYC.  My brother’s restaurant has an old-fashioned photo booth in the basement (by the unisex bathroom, I might add).  We bribed the kids with the pictures if they finished their dinners.  It worked.

Jeff and I hadn’t taken photo booth pictures in years – I’m afraid to say how many – but I think in my last set, I had braces.  Not-so-attractive.

And how much do I love the silly faces? The small people do them all the time now – blaming that on my hubby.  He is the king of the silly face picture.

But I love it.

And now, it serves to break my mind funk.  It is the smile I need.

Home Sweet Home

I love to travel.  Really, I do.

But at this very moment, there is absolutely nothing that sounds better than the comfort of my own home. We have been out of town twice in the past three weeks – and honestly – it has been exhausting.

I have been dreaming of my own bed.  Wishing for my shower. Crying over my kitchen.

And, I haven’t even mentioned just how desperately my small people need to be back on a regular schedule……but you can sympathize, right?  You understand the magical combination created in children when they are lacking sleep, have had little to no discernible fruit and far too much sugar, are getting too used to being entertained by amazing sights, and haven’t seen their own beds in days?  Notsomuch fun.

But, I digress.

The truth is – I have many thoughts to share from our recent trip.  I mentioned that my little brother is no longer single. I now have the pictures to prove it.  I will post those tomorrow.

After I sleep in my very own bed. With my teddy bear.  And shower in my very own shower. And eat in my very own kitchen.

The Single Guy Settles Down

My little brother always swore he would never get married.  And by never, I mean in a pigs-flying-hell-freezing-over kind of way.

And yet….he met someone.

Her name is Emily.  Like my brother, Emily is a chef in New York City.  They get each other.

And I love that.

dec-2006-feb-2007-201

So….sweet little brother, as you say your vows today, know that I am thrilled for you. As you say your vows today – I will be heading up your very own cheering section! I am so proud of how you have grown, how intelligent you are and how hard you work. Emily is a lucky girl.

It is amazing when you find someone special.  And though we don’t see each other often, I do love you. And so do Mom and Dad.

If I had a picture of Emily – I would post it, but that will have to wait until we get back!
