A simply thank you….
Happy Thanksgiving….
What are YOU thankful for?
Where Ordinary Meets Mom
My hope is that this video warms your heart just a little and reminds you of the many things in life worthy of a little thanks.
Part of my job as a mom is to continue learning. Which is a good thing, because it seems like I always am – so therefore, I am doing my job, yes?
Every week, I learn a few new things…here’s what I have learned so far:
1) You must ALWAYS carry a spare set of clothing for each child – you never know when your three year old is going to have an ‘accident’ right before he steps out of the car for school.
2) Chocolate Milk and 5 years olds in white uniform shirts don’t mix – unless you want chocolate spotted white uniform shirts. Mommy fail for making that mistake TWO days in a row.
3) If you let your kids drink a huge glass of milk before bed (daddy) they WILL wet the bed.
4) The sound machine the kids use to sleep is just as important for me – hubby turned it off last night and I couldn’t sleep
5) I actually do lost weight and yuck around my waist if I stop drinking soda.
6) I can’t resist when either of the small people ask me to snuggle, so I shouldn’t even bother trying.
7) I really, really like the library and think we should go there more often.
I am often perplexed by other parent’s decisions (as I am sure they often are by mine) and usually try to keep it to myself, but I must ask – why pierce your 4 year old son’s upper ear with a ring?
9) My biggest flaws are time management and tidiness. Those are BIG Flaws, my friends. But, I am working on it.
10) I am grateful….for my healthy, (mostly) happy children and husband, for amazing and supportive friends, for the roof over my head, for clean water, for Motrin, for my Mac, for the ability to read, write and speak, for Darius Rucker’s song – Alright, for Oreos, for Skype, for silence in my house after 9pm, and for opening doors.
Have you learned anything this week?
Sometimes a simple note can make your day.
Twice yesterday, girlfriends reached out to me with beautiful notes, some amazing support and words I needed to hear.
Today, a sweet friend sent me an email that started with, “Thank you for being You.”
The truth is, it feels like a little slice of heaven to be told you are appreciated, to be encouraged and loved.
I’m smiling from ear to ear.
Now it is my turn to pass that on.
Maybe you have someone who could use a little love – send them a note, shoot them an email. It will make you smile. Promise.
