Cinco de Smith

What?  You think with a name like Smith that Cinco de Mayo might not be our thing?

On the contrary – Cinco de Mayo is THE holiday for my family – because without Cinco de Mayo – there would be no Smith family of 4.

It was on this very date, 8 years ago that the friendship between my husband and I turned into, well, let’s just say a little more.

We worked together – chatted about our respective ‘others’, shared the same days off (when you work in TV – your days off are rarely the traditional weekend), and always laughed a whole lot.

The guy that shared the weekend newscast with me, the Sports Guy to my right, suddenly became my other half.

And so it goes….

8 Cinco de Mayos later – we have two beautiful small people, too many laughs under our belt to count, and a World Series Ring.

Happy Cinco de Smith!

Kid-themed Inauguration Celebration

I have to admit, I stole this idea from a girlfriend….in honor of the Inauguration today, she and her 4 year old daughter made these darling cookies:

usacupcakes

I offered the same fun times to Delaney – she wanted cupcakes instead.  Not quite the same effect…..even with red and blue sprinkles in the batter:

So…we aren’t winning any baking awards from the Inauguration Committee, but at least Mini knows today is special! Right??
