ExtraordinaryMommy, Heather and her sweet daughter Lucy are responsible for all of these fabulous New York suggestions!

Restaurants:

John's Pizzeria 260 W 44 th St, btwn Broadway & 8 th Ave 212-391-7560 johnspizzeria.com

Head to this spacious midtown spot, whose traditional New York pizzas are made big enough for little pizza lovers to share. Also have a full menu of Italian staples. John's makes it easy for tykes to delve into a New York classic – ‘za! (they have high chairs and booster seats!)

A great place for or to meet visitors since it's right off of Times Square.

Peanut Butter & Co. 240 Sullivan Street btwn Bleecker & W 3 rd St 212-677-3995

A peanut butter lovers dream comes true. Multiple combinations of peanut butter sandwiches should accommodate the pickiest eaters to the adventurous. Try the Elvis (peanut butter, banana, honey and bacon). They'll cut off the crusts for you too. If you can't gobble another PB ‘wich than try the “Goober free” items. High chairs, booster seats

Big Daddy's Diner 1596 Second Ave (@83 rd St) 212-717-2020 and 239 Park Ave. South btwn 19 th & 20 th 212-477-1500

Fun twist on a diner. Great place to take kids and especially a pleasure with the dedicated stroller parking. The walls are filled with kitschy pop culture signs and slogans and the vinyl booths have paper placemats to color and a few Trivial Pursuit cards to entertain your table. Portions are huge so plan on sharing; even the kid's meals at $7.95 could be split or enough to take home for dinner.

Fun and Recreation:

Central Park

Warm weather or cold, there is always something for the entire family to do in the park. With 21 playgrounds, special events, and unique places such as the C arousel, Belvedere Castle and the Central Park Zoo this is a place that never runs out of things to do.

American Museum of Natural History Central Park at 79 th Street 212-769-5100

Interesting for all ages (even the little ones can crawl on stairs if they get restless). You can spend hours in this museum but also try not to get overwhelmed and pick the areas that most interest you. Great for a rainy day but be patient as you aren't the only one with that great idea.

Open daily 10am-5:45pm. Suggested donation $15, students and seniors $11, children ages 2-12 $8.50.

Children's Museum of Manhattan 212 W 83 rd St btwn Amsterdam Ave & Broadway 212-721-1234

A great place to take the kids (ages 2-12) when they're tired of being told not to touch because this museum is hands-on . Whether "working" in a post office or experiencing water's many properties hands on, the Children's Museum of Manhattan is a great destination for young children and their parents.

Tues-Sun-10am-5pm, Adults $9, seniors $6, Children 1 Free

Shopping:

Bank Street Bookstore 610 W 112th St. (@ Broadway) 212-678-1654

By far the best children's bookstore in NYC. Their staff is unparalleled for expert knowledge and assistance-- a little out of the way but worth the trip.

FAO Schwarz 767 Fifth Ave Btwn 46 th & 47 th 212-644-9400

The grand daddy of all toy stores has regained its spark to visit. You can't find any licensed merchandise here so don't think you're going to visit and then go home and buy it at Wal-Mart. This is a great experience for all ages. The giant stuffed animals are still there to draw you in but new attractions wait inside including a full service ice cream parlor and the Styled By Me Barbie section.

Toys “R” Us 1514 Broadway (@ 44 th St) 646-366-8800

This TRU is totally different. The Times Square location has a 60-foot Ferris wheel indoor, a two-story Barbie dollhouse and a 20-foot high animatronics T Rex. Of course the usual toys you expect are here but it's still quit a sight. And of course they try and take your picture when you enter (and of course sell it, hey- it's New York).

Extras:

Pick up a copy of Time Out New York Kids Magazine for other listings of eating, shopping, film, theater, music, art and monthly calendar of activities.
