Many an ExtraordinaryMommy contributed to the St. Louis section! Thank you Mary, Elizabeth and Kerry!

Restaurants:

Fortels Pizza Den- A 'take you back to your childhood' pizza place. They have the red checked tablecloths you'll remember fondly, and they love kids! You order your pizza (or pasta, salad or sandwich) at the front counter and they bring it right out to you. There are 10 locations in the St. Louis area.

Fun and Recreation:

Playtime Party Center - 1225 Wentzville Parkway Wentzville, MO  63385 636-887-4244

Sky Zone - 17379 Edison Avenue, Chesterfield, MO 63005 (636) 530-4550.

Check out this 3-dimensional walled playing field. It is like nothing you have ever seen. Similar to many bounce facilities out there, but, this one caters not only to little kids, but to adults as well. They have a special area for toddlers and they host birthday parties, but Mommy and Daddy can get their 'jump on' too!

City Museum - 701 North 15th Street, St. Louis, MO 63103 (314) 231-city

Billed as a place 'where the imagination runs wild', the City Museum is a crazy mixture of fun. It houses exhibits for kids to play on, in and around and is constructed from actual pieces of city living. Within its walls, you will find old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction cranes, miles of tile, and even two abandoned planes!

Grant's Farm - 10501 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO 63123 (314)-843-1700

This St. Louis favorite has historical significance. The Farm's name comes from the 18th President of the United States: Ulysses S. Grant. Grant's ownership of the Farm began in the 1850's. It is now owned and preserved by the Busch Family. A train ride through the undeveloped section of the Farm allows you to see many animals in their natural habitat. Some, you'll see up close when you get off the train. You'll see deer, bison, antelope and zebras. And, don't forget the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdale Horses. Admission to the park is free, but parking is $10 for cars/SUVS.

Extras:

The Valley Bake Shop (Opening in July - Chesterfield, Next to the Wildhorse Grill) Owner - Melissa Golder 314-330-0960

I have to tell you ExtraordinaryMommy LOVES this idea! 'Kid-friendly' and 'Family Friendly' barely scratch the surface of this multi-purpose bakery. The Valley Bake Shop is "bringing baking back!" It is not only a retail bake shop, but a place where kids can come for classes, camps, and birthday parties to learn (hands-on) the basics of baking.  Kids can visit with their parents, choose a recipe, cook until their heart's content and leave the mess in the kitchen. Or, they can toddle on over to the "Moo Bar" to order milk any way they want it. (sprinkles, chocolate, you name it!) Adults can use the free wi-fi or challenge their kids to a game of checkers (just pull your favorite game off the shelf!)

Specializing in all things baked-from-scratch and peanut free - you can order cupcakes (check out the cupcake tree!), muffins, brownies, cookies, scones and so much more.   You can also order gluten free or dairy free - just make sure to give Melissa a little notice! Until the shop opens in July, Melissa is happy to cater your specifc event. You can take $5 off any order just by telling her you heard about The Valley Bake Shop on ExtraordinayMommy.com

The Cakery in Dogtown: 1420 Tamm Avenue Saint Louis MO, 63139 |
(314) 647-6000

This bakery is also peanut-free. It is great for Mommys who needs to get birthday cakes for kids with peanut allergies. And their cakes are delicious!!

Leftovers - 1759 Scherer Parkway St. Charles, MO 63303 (636) 946-9779

One Extraordinary Mommy calls Leftovers 'the greatest little secret'. Well, we're not keeping it to ourselves any longer! This is a great resource for anyone needing supplies for your kids' inner artist – and yours too! It's where teachers go to get egg cartons and Pringles cans for all of your child's projects, but you can go and get all kinds of items too: ribbon scraps, fabric scraps, carpet remnants, empty tins and butter tubs and yogurt cartons, paint and countertop samples, wallpaper sample books, magazines, and ceramic tiles. There is a Gift Shop section where you can buy items that are already pre-made, and also an Idea section where you can see ideas of things to make with the resources they sell there. The back section is where donated items are organized on shelves, and you can fill paper sacks with whatever you need. Most of these items are things that are “recycled” for craft use, instead of filling our landfills. So you're teaching your child to recycle and reuse, and helping them learn to use their creativity with everyday objects.
