I totally agree…writing a complete script just ruins the authenticity of the video/speech!

Thanks friend – love that you come by :)

I understand your point of view, but have to respectfully disagree with this one. I’ve used a script almost weekly for over a year and never do more than 3 takes. I’ve also had several people tell me that they would never have guessed that I even have an outline.

I will admit that sometimes I write the script and then don’t actually have it when filming. It’s just been enough for me to pound my thoughts out and organize them.

It helps many people not go too long/ramble in their video. Once again, it boils down to no set rule. It varys for each person.

    Great video as usual!

I do outlines – and sometimes I have written out more detailed script/outline but I don’t stick to it. If I do, it starts to sound too rehearsed. Even when I have repeated the same line that I just made up in the first take or two, it gets like that. So I try to keep it fresh.

But of course, I still mess it up lots.

Janice – I think that is the beauty of it – I always mess up a lot and do re-takes, but avoiding sounding ‘rehearsed’ as you mentioned is the key :) Rehearsed is the opposite of ‘sounding natural’ – thank you so much for stopping by! xoxo

Hey Jendi – thanks so much for commenting – I do completely agree that there is no one set of rules – that’s why I do these as ‘tips’ or suggestions. Love to have people share alternative thoughts and things that work for them – that’s the beauty of vlogging :) I wouldn’t suggest people don’t do an outline, but do believe that a written-out-word-for-word script will cause most people to try to memorize and therefore, sound unnatural. There is a difference between jotting down thoughts to keep you on track and worrying about sentence 1, sentence 2, sentence 3, etc….. Thanks for commenting!

Maybe I’m crazy, but I’ll usually make the video like 10 times! HAHA no script, but by the 10th time I’ve got it all down pat.
