Angie found her match in her husband Matt when they were both training clients at 24 Hour Fitness. Angie and Matt have recently opened their own studio in St. Charles, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Their new business is Emerge Fitness Training. Emerge provides a private, intimate training setting and gives clients a less-crowded, more personal training experience.
Angie has a degree in exercise from Western Illinois University, while Matt received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his Masters from the University of Texas-Austin. Both are certified in NASM, APEX, AFAA, and CHEK Core Conditioning. Q) We're now three months into the New Year. What if I am having trouble with my Fitness Resolutions? A)
Truthfully, simply calling something a New Year's Resolution won't make it stick. There is no real motivation behind it. The reason so many are motivated on January 1 st is simply because of all the junk we've been eating. But as soon as January 10 th roles around and our cream cheese addiction has worn off, we're right back to wishing we were staying fit instead of actually making it happen. Working out in January is hard. And for people in cold weather states, February and March can be a bit of a challenge too. Now is your chance to effect true change. Short term goals are huge. Let Spring and the thought of shorts and bathing suits spur you on. Set a date, a weight loss goal, or create a meal plan with a nutritionist or trainer you trust. Be REALISTIC about your goals. Don't get caught up in the “Biggest Loser” fad. First of all, those contestants have a lot of weight to lose. Second, for the purpose of the show, weight loss is their full time job. They have trainers, nutritionists, and many others helping them to focus day in and day out. For the average person, losing 1 to 1 ½ pounds a week is realistic. If you set goals that are too lofty, they will likely stay out of reach. Good luck! Angie can be reached at Emerge Fitness at 636- 399-6748. Don't forget to ask about Emerge's brand new BOOT CAMP!

Q) Is my personal happiness connected to whether or not I take care of myself? A)
Absolutely! This is not to say that you need to get ‘all dolled up' to feel happy. What you need is to feel that you look like you. You need to recognize yourself when
y Try to find a little bit of time for you. Pick out some clothes that are comfortable but make you feel fun. You know what looks good on you, and if you have forgotten, make a date with a friend to go shopping in your own closet. Try to put on a little makeup and do something with your hair. A simple ponytail is chic and a headband can spice up your favorite jeans and shirt. Taking care of yourself makes you better. A better you is a better Mommy, a better wife and a better friend. Don't fall into the habit of catching yourself midday in the mirror & not liking what you see! You deserve more than that!
