The VooDoo Doll

When I explain to you why I am carting around a VooDoo doll in my husband’s image, I know you will understand.

Last year, at this time, he was at the St. Regis in Aspen.  Sure, it was a ‘work trip’.  Sure, they had meetings.  They also had fancy meals, money falling from the ceiling to the tune of ‘show me the money’, and snow mobiling excursions.

Me?  I was here in St. Louis with the small people.  Alone.  On my birthday. (Are you crying for me yet?  No?  Well, you will.)

wes1098ex45495_mdThis year, he is here. On my 2nd favorite island in the world.  And I am here.  In St. Louis with the small people. Alone.  On my birthday.

Nevermind that this is his mom’s work reward trip – or that she took me two years ago – or that it really is his turn to go.  I would prefer to sulk about it.  And it would be nice if you felt sorry for me too.  Just a little.

Because he has sunshine, 85 degrees, perfect azure water and parasailing.

And I have crazy small people who argue….with me and each other.  All.The.Time. And rain.  And a high of 42.

Rude.

Sigh.

Itishisturn.  (voodoo arm twist) It.is.his.turn. (voodoo knuckle to his back) IT.IS.HIS.TURN. (voodoo sunburn)

Clearly I’m envious.  And by envious, I mean my blue eyes have turned green.  And I’m wearing green all week in protest.

And the crazy small people keep saying, “I miss my daaaaaddddyyyy!” every time I reprimand them.  Which makes me want to ship them to Siberia.

But only if they stop and pick up their daaaaaadddddyyyyy on the way.

LMAO! Sorry for your miserable weather and cranky kids…have a rainy week here, as well, and tornado warnings…and 2 miserably sick babes, so IF my hubby had to travel, which he doesn’t, I would probably not write about it so sweetly! Especially if that travel was for PLEASURE. :) And the door locks might not turn with his key by the time he returned! ;)

He is SO totally rude. Rude! Turns out I’m wearing green today too. I’ll just say it’s for you, how ’bout that? Solidarity, baby!
Happy b’day. At least it stopped raining!

    LOL! So ruuuuude of him.
Wow! What does he do that he can’t take his fabulous wife along for the ride? Kids can stay at Grandma’s.
I am slowly learning the art of editing a video….Maybe you could do a series on that…:)
Heck maybe I could. It would be editing for dummies.

I’m sending some sunshine your way and RAIN for your hubby. Grrrrr.
    Lifes not fair is it?

MY FATHER TRAVELLED SOUTH ONCE A YEAR BY HIMSELF AS WELL … BUT … WHEN HE WAS HOME HE WAS THE BREADWINNER, RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING … HE NEEDED A HOLIDAY TO CARRY ON … AND HE DESERVED A HOLIDAY … HE WAS THE ONE WHO DIED AT 74, MY MOTHER LIVED TILL 90 … THAT MAYBE SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT HOW LIFE TOOK A TOLL ON HIM, HOLIDAYS OR NOT …

SO I HOPE THIS SHIFTS THE PERSPECTIVE A LITTLE AND THAT IF YOU WANT YOUR HUSBAND TO BE THE BEST HE CAN BE AT HOME … THEN BE GLAD FOR HIS BEING ABLE TO BE AWAY IN THE SUN EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE … ALL THINGS EVEN UP AND HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE HAPPY FOR AND SUPPORTIVE OF YOU WHEN IT IS YOUR TURN FOR A HOLIDAY … OR … BETTER YET, HOPEFULLY, LIKE EVENTUALLY HAPPENED IN MY FAMILY, YOUR WHOLE FAMILY CAN CREATE WONDERFUL MEMORIES TOGETHER ON A SANDY SHORE!

WORK TOWARD THAT BEAUTIFUL, EXCITING GOAL AND EVERYONE WILL FEEL SO MUCH BETTER … MAYBE BEGIN A GREAT BIG HUGE VISION BOARD THAT THE KIDS AND YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND CAN HAVE FUN CREATING … GATHER TRAVEL MAGAZINES FROM THE TRAVEL AGENCIES , SCISSORS AND GLUE, AND GO FOR IT … NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR YOUR VISION TO BECOME REALITY, YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY, WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN IN THE PLANNING AND THE EXCITEMENT OF ANTICIPATION!

THEY DO SAY IT IS THE JOURNEY … NOT THE DESTINATION … THAT IS MOST IMPORTANT.

I HOPE YOU AND YOUR PRECIOUS FAMILY ENJOY THE JOURNEY TOWARD A FABULOUS HOLIDAY SOON! WISHING YOU LOTS OF SUNSHINE AND BLESSINGS ALWAYS NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE!!!
