Quite simply, I am not winning any awards for cooking or baking. My brother is the chef in the family and while I do cook some version of a home-made meal every night, I don’t often move outside my comfort zone. In fact, I’ve become so boring, I’ve stopped making many of the desserts I always enjoyed.
But NOT this past weekend. We joined friends for the Super Bowl and they asked me to bring the desserts. DID I EVER!
I decided to bring something worthy of Super Bowl snacking AND a truly epic dessert that would leave everyone drooling. I did both.
I made this decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie Oreo Brownie Blast Bar – the recipe is over on my friend Elizabeth and Dawn’s site: Party BluePrintsBlog. It was rich and delicious and definitely something I will make again. (Yes, it is as evil as it looks!) And? It was incredibly easy to make.
But since I’m also a big fan of ‘salty’ treats and snacks, I wanted a little something extra. So, I opted to make something I knew everyone simply wouldn’t be able to resist:
Homemade Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
- 16 ounce bag of pretzels (I prefer smaller twists, but you can use sticks or larger twists)
- 2/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup of sugar (use 1/4 brown sugar, 1/4 white sugar for extra sweetness)
- 2 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Spread the pretzels evenly in a roasting pan. Combine the oil, sugar and cinnamon. Mix well to combine. Pour over pretzels and stir until all are evenly covered. Place in oven for 30 minutes taking out every 10 minutes to stir. Keep an eye on the pretzels for darkening.
