We are surrounded by stories that rip small pieces from our heart – the young girl with cancer, the fatherless child, the family who lost their home as a result of a lost job and a horrible economy, the tragic earthquake in Haiti…..
It would be easier to ignore the suffering that isn’t our to bear. But that wouldn’t be right, now would it? And that isn’t the lesson we are hoping to teach our children.
We want to teach them that is is often the small moments, the little things that make a big difference.
And this is where the Members Project from American Express comes in.
No, I can tell you from experience – you do not need to be an American Express cardholder to get involved. American Express has joined with Take Part to guide through the ‘small step’ process of helping, of giving back. Maybe you are touched by Operation Smile, moved by Jumpstart or motivated by Habitat for Humanity. So, do something about it.
Through this effort, you can volunteer your time, donate money, or even vote for a favorite charity to win funding from Amex. The Members Project is donating $200K to 5 charities every three months. The current voting cycle ends on May 24th. You can make a difference simply by voting – and you can vote once every week.
Now, I mentioned you don’t have to be a cardholder…but if you are, there are a few additional ways for you to be involved.
You can volunteer at charities that American Express helps you find and you will get Members Points for doing so.
You can donate your Members Rewards points to one of the 50 charities selected for each voting period (or choose from more than one million others)
And don’t forget – one of the BEST ways to make a difference? Simply spread the word.
Register now on the website. It is free.
