You know how you can tell when you quite simply don’t have enough softness in your life? When you have been running and jumping through hoops and you haven’t taken he time to slow down, to appreciate the quiet beauty in your world, but there is a little something whispering to you that it is About Time that you do?
Well, that’s me.
I’m a lover of books. A connoisseur of movies. And yet…sometimes life moves so fast, I find myself missing the ‘me’ that used to make the time to indulge in the beauty that expands beneath the aura of the love story. Sure, I’ve always loved everything that relates to the cinema, but the opportunity to suspend disbelief and truly be swept away by the characters, their fun, their quirks their spontaneity…there is magic in that, right?
Remember Notting Hill? Or Love Actually?
Landing in my inbox this morning…. this trailer for About Time.
It seems to me that filmmaker Richard Curtis has done a little something special again – taking ordinary life circumstances and making them extraordinary. The film centers around 21 year old Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) who discovers, at this very crucial age, that he can travel back in time. From what I can tell, he can’t change history, but he can ‘do-over’ certain moments in time (wouldn’t we all love that opportunity occasionally?). His love interest in the movie – one of my very favorite actresses, Rachel McAdams, plays Mary….someone he meets and meets again. He uses this ‘talent’ to create perfect moments, to avoid disasters…or to try.
How many moments would you do over? And do you really think it would change where you are right now? I’m fascinated.
Right now, I live in a house that looks like this…. surrounded by St. Louis Cardinals gear. I’m fully aware that I married for sickness and health and for the St. Louis Cardinals. Since they are currently World Series bound, there will be nothing we watch, nothing we view… – no television shows and no movies until the World Series is completed…. and the potential Game 7, if it goes that far, is slated for Halloween night – October 31st.
But friends, there is good news here. On November 1st the movie opens but will be available everywhere on November 8th. The day About Time hits theaters everywhere, it will be About Time for my turn, and there will be a little love story returning to my world.
Disclosure: I am delighted to be partnering with SheKnows and About Time to share this upcoming movie with you. As always, all thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.
