Great point Danielle! Passion IS the potatoes! If you don’t have any, I don’t want to hear you talk. And if you got some, you can share some!

Readers: Take Danielle’s advice to heart. Be yourself, and be passionate. Look for the hook into your heart so you can connect into your listener’s heart so you can move them to action.

You are heavenly, Phil – thank you for that! I was so impressed with all of the passion in the room over the weekend! It can turn *any* topic into an attention getter. Thank you for this. xoxo

So true Danielle. With passion you radiate energy, charisma, and even credibility. This is why I avoid speaking on topics that don’t light a fire in my belly. I need to get behind, around, and in front of a concept before sharing/interpreting/convincing others.

Hi – you’re right, of course… passion is necessary… but don’t forget it’s not all that’s necessary! You also need the right skills too! :)

And it’s important sometimes to keep the passion in check. Without doing that you risk making errors such as talking too fast, giving the impression that you’re shouting or hectoring people and waving your arms around too much.

It’s important that people know the passion’s there but that it’s also under control. A fighter who doesn’t think will lose, no matter how passionately he starts to swing his arms around in the ring, throwing wild punches…

Racing drivers don’t always go flat out…. they use their brakes and brains as well as the gas pedal….

Simon – you are absolutely right! Thank you so much for adding your thoughts – you clearly know what you are talking about. Since I only do one tip at a time, I didn’t cover everything else you mentioned (but am glad you did) I agree that an over-board passion can be too much, but have found that people who speak from a place of passion tend to be quite engaging.
