How to go from Curly to Straight Hair with the Remington Wet to Straight Flat Iron

When I was at BlogHer in New York City, I went to the Getting Gorgeous Event hosted by the lovely Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney .  Naturally, I had a wonderful time.  There were friends to hug, products to try and gorgeous for the getting :)

When we left, they handed us these bags FULL of amazing items.  One of them, the Remington Wet to Straight Flat Iron both fascinated me and left me feeling, I’ll admit it, skeptical.  I have big hair.  Thick, curly, hard-to-manage-I-only-wash-it-every-5-or-6-days-kind-of-hair.  Because it is just such a huge pain to do.  (Audrey says I need a Brazilian blow-out…and I mean I want one, but again – with all the hair?  It is like a bazillion dollars to get it done. I digress.)  So, I wondered if it was even possible if this (amazingly priced) flat iron could POSSIBLY tackle my hair. (Hint: yes)

Here’s the video. (And I apologize in advance for the lack of makeup-ness.  Try not to be frightened.)

And here’s where you can buy it online if you so choose.  (P.S. – this isn’t an affiliate link….and no one asked me to write about this :)

NUH UHHHHH!!! Holy cow, I’ll be stopping at the Target this afternoon for that thing. My hair is maybe even curlier than yours and yes a total PITA. I don’t straighten it often because it takes so long! I would never even dream of using a flat iron on wet hair! And I HATE the round brush. Hate hate hate. Cannot believe that thing is so cheap.

Oh my goodness. I have had two of these straighteners… one I lost when I moved, the other I bought last year. I have the LONGEST THICKEST CURLIEST hair known to mankind. I -love- this thing. It still takes me quite a while to get it dry and straight, but so much less time than it would if I had to blow my hair out and THEN straighten it.

I agree. It was so incredibly inexpensive (less than $30) for the time it saves me… TOTALLY WORTH IT.

So funny! I wasn’t able to attend the Getting Gorgeous event – but here’s the thing – I just started to flat iron my hair as it is growing out and I bought THAT EXACT ONE. I freaking love it. Like I want to marry it.

P.S. I bought their hairdryer too and it’s badass.

After my son knocked my old straightener into the toilet I went shopping for a new one and got this one…I love it! My hair isn’t curly, but it is wavy and thick. With having 4 kids I am always looking to save time and with this straightener I can! So glad you got one!
    PS. Love your blog!

Aimee – you and me both. Like Married. Today. Sounds like I need the haridryer too. Or maybe not. Because I have the flatiron :)

My hair is just like yours! It takes me easily an hour to do my hair! I have so much hair. If I don’t blow dry my hair right away, I’ll have to use the flatiron. If I do blow dry it right away I have to use to much product so that it doesn’t frizz everywhere.

I will be heading out to the store to buy one!

Theresa – you will have to let me know what you think :) It makes me happy :)

Thanks for the information. My flat iron is on its last days. I got a Brazilian Keratin Treatment this summer, and my crazy curly hair is now much more manageable. I think this iron would work quite well for my new texture. And what a time saver!
