I have two summer babies. And though I swore off birthday parties last year (and the year before), I’ll admit to being a bit of a sucker. I love to celebrate my small people. I love that THEY love the celebration. I don’t even mind the chaos (though I do a good job pretending I do)
But I DON’T love spending a fortune. And birthday parties can quickly get out of hand. The invitations, the cake, the decorations, the food, the games and goodie bags… it makes my head hurt just thinking about it. So, I set about coming up with ways you – the moms and dads could find ways to celebrate your little people without overspending.
I did what so many of us often do – I asked the experts – other moms and dads. (because we all know EVERYONE has at least one money saving trick, right?)
Here are 5 Money Saving Tips to Make Kid’s Parties More Affordable from my segment on Great Day St. Louis (KMOV)
Skip the Traditional Invitation: Here is how I did the video invitation.
Cupcakes instead of cake: If you are in the St. Louis area, those amazing cupcakes are from Susie G’s in O’Fallon (I’ve used them every year for the last 8 years!) They taste as good as they look. I *may* or *may not* have been caught eating leftover cake with a spoon over the kitchen sink.
Theme: Buy only the napkins & color coordinate (thank you Claire for this idea!)
Make your craft double as your ‘goodie bag’
Take advantage of what you already have: play outside, use water guns, sporting equipment, etc.
Thank you, as always, to Great Day for having me on!
