American Girl Doll- Marie-Grace Winners

Delaney and I are excited to announce that we have chosen not just one, but TWO winners for Marie-Grace Giveaway. It was a hard decision so we are grateful for your patience! We were so in love with the amazing stories so many of you shared, it was impossible to choose just one.  So, in addition to giving away the Marie-Grace doll we have here in our home, we are purchasing a second doll to give. (We would have loved to have gifted one to each entrant if we could)

Thank you so much to everyone who entered.

The Winners are Ammie Pope (for her daughter Amanda) and Amy Lundmark (for her daughter Brianna).

American Girl Launches Two New Dolls with Harry Connick, Jr (And Giveaway)

Update 11/1: Winners posted here

UPDATE 10/22 8pmCST: Contest is CLOSED.  Delaney and I are reading through these amazing entries.  Thank you for sharing your heart.  A winner will be chosen soon. We will have something extra exciting to share so please be patient.

I will admit it. In 2007, when my sweet girl was but one year old, I had never heard of the phenomenon that is the American Girl.  But my mother-in-law had.  And she was thrilled to open both Delaney and I up to the experience. And when Delaney was only a year and half (Fall 2007) we began what is now an annual tradition of heading to Chicago to visit the American Girl Doll Store every November.

When the introductions were first made, I was floored by the culture – the clothes, the hair-stying, the boutique and restaurant, but taken by the stories and history that accompany each doll.  This shared love of these dolls bonded granddaughter to grandmother.

Now, you may already know this – but for the first time ever, American Girl has launched two new dolls together: Cecile and Marie-Grace… as their stories – based in the 1850′s in New Orleasns go hand-in-hand.  Literally.

Gussy Sews – Show and Tell and Giveaway

Every once in a while, you are so blown away by someone’s talent that you simply can’t help but stop people on the street just to share.  That’s what this is…..  this is me, virtually stopping you on the street to say, “LOOK AT THIS!”

I’m talking about Gussy Sews, the delightful brainchild and brilliant handiwork of Maggie Whitley.  Tote bags, makeup cases, laptop bags…. even the e-reader case I have been DYING FOR. (Yes, I’m dramatic) I first encountered Gussy through my friend Heather. Despite my best efforts, Heather was unwilling to allow me to pilfer any of her Gussy Products.  Rude, I think. :)  But I will let it slide as I am now a proud owner all.by.myself.

A Designer’s Gift – StudioJewel Giveaway!

I have a friend.

And she is brilliant.

And talented.  Like – I-wish-could-be-her-talented.

And beautiful. (that part doesn’t effect you much, but it is fun to note because her stunning-ness is just a part of who she is – and you occasionally find yourself mesmerized, but again, I digress. )  I’m not here to talk about her beauty.

I want to share her talent with you.  Because you need to know.  It is that impressive.  And, because, I’m actually going to SHARE a little something of her with you.

Meet Lisa Lehmann, artist extraordinaire . To tell you that this friend of mine makes jewelry doesn’t come close to explaining her craft.  Her talent manifests itself in her business, StudioJewel. She imagines the design. She works with metals and semi-precious stones to create individual masterpieces by hand.  That’s right. Each piece.  By hand. She visualizes, molds, melds, bronzes, brushes, and crafts each piece of jewelry that leaves her studio.

From earrings to bracelets to necklaces to rings….  each piece is exquisite….  moving from Lisa’s dreams to her fingertips.

You know I love how video can transport you into someone’s world?  Here’s your chance to enter Lisa’s….  just for a few minutes.

Welcome back.

Now that you are thoroughly in awe of her magnificent talent – let’s talk about how YOU can accessorize yourself with something from StudioJewel.

I’m thrilled to be giving away a $75 gift Certificate to StudioJewel….  thrilled because YOU ARE GOING TOBE OVER THE MOON IF YOU WIN.

So, here’s the deal.

In order to enter, I need to know what you love the VERY most.  So, visit StudioJewel.  Is it the copper spiral earrings? Maybe a ring?  The Organic Everyday Silver? The Forever and Always Necklace? The super fantabulous Copper Wire Cuff?

  • Don’t cheat and only pick my favorites!
  • Come back here and comment – tell me what you love the most.
  • For an extra entry go ‘Like’ Lisa and Studio Jewel on her Facebook Page and enter a separate comment here.

Just for fun – Lisa is @TheBeadGirl on Twitter – and so worth following

Pledge To Love Your Kitchen Campaign

When I was a little girl, I had a list of chores I had to do every Saturday morning.

Weeding the flower beds was my LEAST favorite.  It took forever.  I was positive the weeds multiplied as I worked.  And no matter how many I pulled, there were always more to get.

But, dusting was the best.  It was the smell.  Pledge.  That Lemony scent always made me feel like I was cleaning.  And even as I kiddo, I delighted in watching the dust disappear.

Even today, that yellow can makes me smile.  Especially now that I know I can use it for more than dusting. (Did you know that?  Did your mom tell you that?  It can clean marble…stainless steel….even leather.  Mark it down)

And that yellow can is getting ready to make someone smile A WHOLE LOT. With the Pledge to Love Your Kitchen Contest, one lucky mom is going to get a brand new Kitchen.…  the contest offers moms the chance to win $15,000 in retailer gift cards to update their kitchen – we’re talking granite, marble and stainless steel…as well as a year’s supply of Pledge…..

In order to enter, you need to download 2 pictures and provide a 75-word essay on why your kitchen could use a little love. The “Pledge to Love Your Kitchen” contest runs through December 10, 2010. The winner of the “Pledge to Love Your Kitchen” will walk away with $15,000 in kitchen improvements.

You heard me! $15,000!

And just for fun – we’re doing a little giveaway right here too….  no – not the $15,000 kitchen – you have to go here for that.  And I suggest you do….  because, really?  Who wouldn’t want a kitchen make-over?

One lucky winner will receive a prize pack full of Pledge product (ARV: $40)

In order to enter:

Performance Bike Giveaway for 4 to 8 year old

Watching my husband teach my daughter to ride her bike was easily one of the greatest joys of my past year.

(And if you watch the video – you will see it was also one of his greatest and one of her greatest!)

A shopping trip with my Girl (or how you can win $150 to JCPenney)

When she was just this little blinking heart beat on a screen…..from the moment the doctor said, “you are having a girl!”….I began to have admittedly superficial Mother-Daughter dreams.

You know….like girl talks, lunches, giggling about boys and, naturally, shopping.

Now that my small girl is 6, she is both sweet and sassy. She is hard at work developing a strong personality of her own and that includes taking ownership for her sense of style.  For the first time, we embarked on a Mom-Daughter Shopping Excursion (courtesy of JCPenney) during which I allowed her to pick EVERYTHING she wanted to try on…..

And this, my friends, was the posing that resulted and
the outfits she chose:

The goal of this shopping trip was to help Delaney discover her style….and, of course, for her (and I suppose me too) to have fun while doing it.  She is not super-girly….she turned up that cute little nose at anything that was too ‘sweet’.  She’ll do glitter.  She will embrace glitzy, but seems to think that a ‘rocker’ edge is more appealing.  And hats?  And ties?  Bring.It.On.

This was such a new experience – she said no to at least half of my ‘what do you think of this?’ displays.  And no amount of , “but I think this would be adorable….” was going to change that stubborn little mind.

I’m not sure where she gets her conviction. But I am proud of her.

Can you stand the smile?  I have to confess I really had so much fun.

To encourage you to help your kids discover their Back-to-School style- we are giving away a $150 shopping spree to JCPenney….

To enter this giveaway:

  • Visit JCP.com and tell us one thing you think your child, tween or tween might love to wear….
