Kid Free Time at Panera
I am sharing just to share.
My kids are both at school. I am sitting by myself in an adult environment with ‘free time’ to work. It is heavenly. I wondered if I would feel lonely. At the moment I don’t.
My only real challenge: to stop looking at the clock - I keep smiling at how much time I have alone. It is distracting. And, of course, that clock keeps ticking - which means, I will soon have to leave, my time depleted.
Even if I don’t get a ton of work done, I am already feeling refreshed. And I have more time to look forward to.
I feel guilty that I need this time, but, let’s face it, I do.
I have a to-do list a million miles long, and yet, my brain is somewhat still. I am relishing the silence….the moments free of, “Mommy, mommy, mommy…..”. Not to mention - I don’t hear any fighting.
That is heavenly too.
*deep sigh*
I must now begin to tackle some work. But I’ll be back. I’ll sit in this same corner in my local Panera Bread Company. I’ll drink some tea, make my lists and listen to the silence.
