Bribery ahem – I mean Reward

I’ll admit it.

I bribe my kids. Especially for the tough stuff like potty training.

For Delaney, I used M&Ms, gummy bears,  promised a Disney Princess Fairytale book (which she still has and KNOWS was her potty training reward) but at the time very little worked.

cimg8381Same thing with the small dude.  While you are wheedling them with the bribes – they aren’t interested, but DAMN – once they succeed, you better be ready to pay up.

We offered Coop M&Ms, Skittles, a trip to the go-carts, ice cream…and the list goes on.

Tonight we paid up – at least for the ice cream – the go-carts?  Well that is another day.

(And for the record – Coop does typically appear as if I have brushed his hair sometime this decade….just not tonight)

That is funny you are talking about bribes i told my daughter before she turned 2 that if she went potty on the big girl potty she can have her birthday at Mickey Mouses house. 2 weeks later she was ready to see Mickey i told her she had to wait for her birthday and so i paid up in Novemeber that year and brought her from PA all the way to Disney the things we do for our kids to get them to go potty.

You know the bribing thing STILL works with me. I love that tactic!

I don’t think he will forget the promise of go carts. My brother always went crazy for that stuff when he was little.

I think he look adorable! My sister gave me the tip on bribing when my son was little but he doesn’t like chocolate so we bribed him with little army men I bought a big pack at the $ store and he got one every time he went on the potty I think it cost me all of $2. My daughter I thought we would do the M&M thing but no the first time in the AM she gets up and goes she gets her vitimans yep her vitimans and there after she gets to brush her teeth. These were her choices. I know I gave birth to them but not sure where this came from.

I am so thinking about a bribe with AJ to get him to potty train .. I have bought a cars toilet seat for him and tried cheerios which I hear have worked .. putting cheerios in the toilet and having them “aim” IDK … he thought it was cool, so I put his little boxer briefs on and well next thing I know I had to mop my kitchen floor. That was yesterday .. will try again today!

I love reading about Cooper’s potty training success he is such a big boy!

Yep. I get it. Bribery WORKS. For my first daughter, we used “peanut butter M&Ms” aka Reeses Pieces. As a matter of fact, the first time she tee teed in the potty unprovoked was at midnight one night when she mysteriously woke up and said “I need to go potty.” And yes, hubs headed to the nearest gas station in the middle of the night for “PB M&Ms.” Bedroom slippers and all.

Daughter #2 wanted suckers. So we bought a super sized bag of DumDums at Sams. Guess we’ll deal with the Dental ramifications of that later…..

Daughter # 3 will start potty training soon. I predict she’ll skip the Reeses Pieces and suckers and demand cash. She’s a stubborn little lady.

My eldest daughter who is now 14 was impossible to potty train. Finally, my husband told her if she went potty like a big girl he would take her to Toys R Us and he would by her anything she wanted. The next day she had the most annoying talking Big Bird you could imagine. What ever works.

haha, I’m currently bribing, errr I mean potty training my last one. The others we bribed them with barbie dolls (for the girls) and hot wheels for boys.
